Character BreakdownSara Sara is an Aussie traveller on a mission to see the historic sites of Europe. Neat and orderly is Sara, everything must be in its place, and everything must go according to schedule. Sara is full of sensitivity, it’s not that she hasn’t seen any hardship; it’s just that her mind is totally open to new experiences and embraces them. Although she is more likely to be upset by people and their actions, she is never disappointed. This character is the epitome of naïve, young and fresh. Seeing the world brand new every day. Her keen interest in history, or at least knowledge makes everything a novelty. This is the aspect of searching which drives us all to explore. However, Sara never wants to lose her direction or her control. She has heeded every word her family have told her: vaccinations, insurance, maps and currency. Off backpacking? What lies underneath these still waters, and what emerges remains to be discovered… Dean Dean is from country Queensland. When the opportunity to travel came along he grabbed it, the allure of anonymity to strong after the sameness and stuffiness of his hometown community. Dean is the most bare and honest of them all. He knows what he wants, he’s been hiding within the security of his home safety net for too long and he’s ready to propel forward. All the drive and ambition is here, step off the cliff with your eyes wide open and explore Europe in the process. With a self-assured quiet confidence Dean is ready to meet the challenges the world will offer him, even if they result in a slightly changed perspective… Jo Joe is a Kiwi, from Auckland. She’s a happy-go-lucky wanderer who moves from city to city on a whim or on advice from other travellers she meets on the way. On the surface Jo is everyone’s best friend. Charming, funny, generally full of charisma, Jo always manages to come out on top. Travelling provides Jo with many opportunities to meet and hang out with different people so it’s always up to her if she moves on or sticks round, if she’s with people or alone… Trevor Trevor is from Sydney and is travelling because it seemed the thing to do. All his mates went away and between them and his family everyone is convinced it’s the best thing for him to do, which they do not hesitate to keep telling him. Consumed with uncertainty, Trevor takes this advice and heads off. Trevor constantly seems boundary less however needs someone else’s encouragement to push him along and when he is told how many adventures he’ll experience he adopts this as his reasoning. Characteristic by the following of others plans and recommendations, Trevor finds travelling is not quite the fun and games everyone’s told him about… Melissa Melissa is from Wellington and is a little bit of a good time girl. Melissa aims to keep a scorecard from all the cities she visits. This is the need to be loved, even if it is only for one night. Melissa’s outward appearance is of a try too hard trashy lady. Up for anything and anyone, but with the bravado comes the weakness. Totally dependant on other people’s reactions/ opinions Melissa appears to have men falling at her feet, yet is never totally satisfied, moving on and moving quickly. That is of course until she comes across something unexpected and in totally unfamiliar territory…
